Description

The 12th century Church of the Abbey of Montmartre is one of the oldest in Paris, having been built upon the ruins of a Roman temple to Mars. It was a witness to the founding of the Jesuits in 1534, where Ignatius of Loyola held meetings in the crypt. Despite its rich history, the church has gone through many restorations over the centuries.
