Description

Famous church of the Couperin family

For two centuries the St. Gervais – St. Protais Church of Paris was home to the Couperin family, one of the most famous French musician families in Paris. It was built in the 16th Century and dedicated to Gervasius and Protsius, who were 2nd Century Christian martyrs.

The St. Gervais – St. Protais Church of Paris is one of the oldest churches in Paris and holds within its walls some exquisite musical instruments. The organ that was used by Louis and Francois Couperin is still there. This glorious instrument, which is a beautiful example of French baroque style, was built by well-known organ builders of that time.
