Description

The Church of Mount St Stephen, constructed between 1492 and 1655, has the only existing rood screen (1521–45) in Paris. This screen was constructed to separate the chancel from the nave and was the only one of its kind to remain intact, as the others were removed during the Renaissance due to the fact that they hindered the view of the priest carrying out Mass from the nave. In the southeast corner of the nave is a chapel which contains the tomb of Ste Geneviève.
