Description

The 11th century Romanesque St Germanus of the Fields stands as Paris' oldest church and was the city's primary place of worship until Notre Dame's arrival. Over the centuries, it has undergone multiple changes, with Chapelle de St-Symphorien, the oldest surviving part, to the right as you enter. Legend says that St Germanus (496–576), the first bishop of Paris, is buried there.
