The renowned octagonal Place Vendôme, along with its surrounding arcaded and colonnaded buildings, was constructed between 1687 and 1721. In March 1796, Napoléon wed Josephine, Viscountess Beauharnais, in the edifice at No. 3. Presently, the buildings encompassing the square contain the chic Hôtel Ritz Paris and a few of Paris' trendiest boutiques.
