Description

Visitors can admire his major works, such as Le Rêve (The Dream), Femme aux Bras Croisés (Woman with Folded Arms), and Les Demoiselles d'Avignon (The Young Ladies of Avignon), and trace the span of his long, varied career. The Hôtel Salé, a magnificent mid-17th-century private mansion owned by the city of Paris since 1964, houses one of the city's most renowned art collections. The Musée National Picasso celebrates the life and works of the renowned Spanish artist Pablo Picasso (1881–1973), who spent much of his life in Paris. On display are over 5,000 drawings, engravings, paintings, ceramic works, and sculptures by this "grand maître" (great master), though not all can be seen simultaneously. Visitors can view a few of Picasso's iconic pieces, such as Le Rêve (The Dream), Femme aux Bras Croisés (Woman with Folded Arms), and Les Demoiselles d'Avignon (The Young Ladies of Avignon), and track the progression of his long and multifaceted career.
