Description

The Jean Monet Museum in Paris is home to an extraordinary exhibition of the eight Nymphéas (Water Lilies) paintings by Monet, installed in two oval rooms originally designed and constructed in 1927 specifically for the artwork. The lower level also displays additional works from Monet and other notable impressionist painters, including Sisley, Renoir, Cézanne, Gauguin, Picasso, Matisse and Modigliani, as well as Derain’s Arlequin et Pierrot. The museum is all that remains of the former Palais des Tuileries, which was destroyed during the Paris Commune in 1871. An audioguide is available for purchase at the entrance for €5.
