Description

Art and history

A Parisian museum par excellence Musée Carnevalet is the oldest of the municipal institutions of its kind and tells the history of the city from 4600 BC to the present day. It is essentially a history museum, but it also features original works of art and visiting exhibitions.

Musée Carnevalet originally opened inside the former Hôtel Carnavalet in 1880. In 1989, the building of the former Hôtel Le Peletier de Saint Fargeau was added to extend the museum. In warm season, you can relax in the museum gardens, which are home to some thousand thriving plant species.
