Description

A beautiful and historic district in Paris

One would never know that the piece of earth Le Marais is located on was at one time a swamp. Before the French Revolution it was a center of high culture until it fell into great disrepair.

Many beautiful private mansions and palaces have been progressively restored over the years making this an enjoyable place to visit. Le Marais was originally built in the 16th and 17th Centuries and is now a protected district. It is one of the most expensive areas to live in while its location puts residents closest to some of the best museums and most interesting architecture in Paris. One popular museum to visit here is the Musee Carnavalet which is often considered to be the best museum featuring the history of Paris.
