Description

An historical cemetery in Paris

The Cimetiere de Passy is a famous cemetery that was built on the southern side of Trocadero. It was built under the orders of Napoleon I and opened up in 1820. In a mere 50 years it became the final resting place to many aristocrats. Today, it is the only cemetery in Paris to have a heated waiting room.

The Cimetiere de Passy contains some beautiful adornments including a bas relief honoring the soldiers who died in the Great War. Others buried here include great actors and actresses, composers, politicians, and many others. The picturesque landscaping includes grand chestnut trees that almost seem to guard the beautiful souls who have been interred here.
