The Russian Orthodox Cathedral of the Dormition of the Mother of God, designed by renowned French architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte, stands out on the banks of the Seine, topped with shimmering gold onion domes. Although the cathedral opens on to av Rapp, visitors must access the building through the cultural centre on quai Branly, where they are subject to a security check. Inside, the interior is modest in size but visitors are regularly treated to Russian recitals and concerts. The cathedral was consecrated in late 2016.
