Description
A Notre-Dame guided tour starts at the Gothic façade and tells the story of the cathedral and its restoration after the 2019 fire, with a choice of guided or independent interior.
A Notre-Dame guided tour begins in front of the cathedral, where the guide reads the stonework for you: the sculpted portals, the rose windows, the gargoyles and the flying buttresses that held up so much medieval ambition. You also hear how craftsmen and restorers brought the building back after the 2019 fire.
You choose how to see the inside when you book.
- Exterior and interior: the guide goes in with you through the group entrance, and headsets keep the commentary clear under the stone vaults, among the stained glass and the chapels
- Exterior only: after the guided walk around the outside, the guide helps you with the entry and you explore the interior alone, at your own pace
Entering the cathedral is free, so what you book is the guide and the explanations. Dress modestly, with shoulders and knees covered, and expect a wait at the door that depends on the crowds. If the interior is closed, the visit becomes a one-hour guided tour outside. The tour is not suitable for wheelchair users.
