Description
A Giverny half-day trip from Paris goes by air-conditioned coach, about an hour on the road, with a guide talking about Claude Monet's life and work on the way. At the Fondation Claude Monet the guide gives a short introduction, then you are on your own.
The gardens come first: flowerbeds in every colour and the lily ponds that fill his Water Lilies series. A self-guided app, available in ten languages, explains what you pass. Then you go into the ivy-covered house, restored to its original appearance, to walk through his living and working rooms and look at a collection of his lesser-known paintings.
After the visit there is time in the village of Giverny, with its cafés and small shops, before the coach drives back to Paris.
