Description
A Normandy D-Day beaches tour from Paris is a long day, about 14 hours, but it takes you to the places where the 1944 landings played out. You meet your guide at Place du Général Kœnig and travel by private bus, while the guide explains Operation Overlord on the road to the coast.
The first stop is Utah Beach, where a former German bunker has become a museum, with skip-the-line entry. Inside is one of the few B-26 bombers still in existence, and the stories of the soldiers who landed here. After a light lunch, the group climbs the cliffs of Pointe du Hoc, where bomb craters and concrete bunkers still show the damage and where Allied Rangers scaled the rock under fire.
- Utah Beach Museum, with a B-26 bomber on display
- Pointe du Hoc, craters and bunkers on the clifftop
- Omaha Beach, quiet now, below the bluff
- Normandy American Cemetery, rows of white crosses above the beach
Lunch and round-trip transport are included; hotel pickup and guide tips are not. Tell the guide about dietary needs in advance. The tour is not wheelchair accessible and is not recommended for pregnant women or people with back problems or mobility impairments.
