Description
This Champagne tour from Paris keeps the group to a maximum of eight, travelling in an air-conditioned minivan with a local driver and guide. Hotel pickup and drop-off in central Paris are included, so the day starts and ends at your hotel.
The first stop is Reims, to see the Gothic cathedral of Notre-Dame, where French kings were traditionally crowned. After that you visit a family-run producer, walk through its cellars and taste the wines, learning how the method was handed down through the generations. Later in the day comes a larger Champagne house, chosen among Taittinger, Nicolas Feuillatte, Veuve Clicquot and Moët & Chandon, as availability allows, with a second guided tasting.
- Notre-Dame de Reims
- A family-owned producer and a renowned Champagne house, each with a tasting
- The Avenue de Champagne in Épernay, lined with grand mansions
- A blind tasting and a sabrage demonstration, opening a bottle with a sabre
You are free to pick your own restaurant or café for lunch, and the guide is happy to suggest places. Lunch itself is not included. Guests under 18 are offered grape juice instead of Champagne. A jacket is wise for the cool cellars, and comfortable shoes help. The itinerary can shift with traffic, weather or the houses' availability.
